Nursing in Victoria

Date of Posting: 07-12-2010

Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria, is the second largest city in Australia with around 5 million residents. It is a thriving melting pot of nationalities, alive with culture, food and especially sport. There is always something to do or see, with many events like the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Film Festival, and Food and Wine Festival held throughout the year, and there is a strong restaurant and cafe culture offering great food and fabulous coffee. It boasts some of the
best sporting events in the world, from tennis and golf to horse racing and it is the home of AFL, the football code that is unique to Australia and is followed by many passionate supporters.
Although Victoria is small in comparison to some of the other Australian states, it offers a wide range of activities, within a relatively short distance from Melbourne. There are surf beaches, spectacular scenery, wineries and ski fields, all within a few hours’ drive from the city.
There are many opportunities for nurses in Victoria, with the large hospitals in Melbourne offering all the speciality areas. Positions are available in many smaller hospitals, aged care centres and in the community, and there are plenty of jobs in regional Victoria as well.
