Bachelor of Nursing with Honours
Description
This on-campus course is offered at Launceston, Hobart and Sydney on a full time or part time basis. The course length is a minimum of one year of full-time study and a maximum of two years part time.
The objectives of the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours are:
• Develop an understanding of individual responses to nursing practice and how this impacts on research.
• Develop the ability to critically and theoretically analyse a context or aspect of practice and apply this analysis to the research project.
• Conduct a modest but rigorous research project that incorporates an appropriate research design and demonstrates critical engagement with the phenomenon of interest.
• Contribute to a scholarly community through dialogue, debate and critique.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours may enter graduate/professional development programs in Australian healthcare systems. Graduates are prepared to undertake postgraduate research and activities; and gain preferential access to postgraduate courses.
Requirements
To be admitted to the honours program a student must hold a Bachelor of Nursing, normally with a minimum of a credit average across both the second and third years of the degree.
Notes
Graduates holding first class (I) or upper 2nd class (IIA) BN (Hons are eligible to apply for PhD candidature.
Students who hold a Bachelor of Nursing from another university may be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours.
