Certificate III in Aged Care

Description

With employment in a wide variety of assistant roles, it’s the perfect course to give your career a helping hand.

Completion of this program may provide you with an opportunity to work as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN), in aged care facilities and Personal Care Worker (PCW) in private homes, providing personal and family support, social and home support, and health related programs for the aged person.

Requirements

The program requires students to demonstrate that they can apply underpinning knowledge (theory), related to assisting aged people’s personal needs in an appropriate environment, e.g. Aged Care Home or Hostel. This may include toileting, showering and manual handling.

This program includes Vocational Placement and therefore it is expected that students are currently employed as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) or Personal Care Worker (PCW), or plan to undertake voluntary or employed work with a registered aged care organisation. Students will need to enrol into Vocational Placement component VPC200 prior to approaching an Aged Care facility.

It is a legal requirement for all persons working in the aged care industry in Queensland to undertake a Criminal History Check. As part of the Aged Care program, students participating in Vocational Placement may be required by the aged care organisation to undergo this check. Criminal History Check forms can be completed at any Police Station.
