Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education
Description
The Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education will allow the registered nurse to progressively advance to a Graduate Diploma and Master of Nursing. The program has been devised and developed following extensive consultation with the profession.
The units in this program have been structured to develop the knowledge and skills of nurse educators, or those anticipating moving into this field. Clinical teaching is an important component of this course. Importantly, the utilization of applied research findings associated with nursing and nurse education is a significant feature addressed in the program structure. It is anticipated that this will be of immense benefit to participants studying the graduate certificate, as well as the profession.
Currently, nurses aspiring to obtain teaching skills are provided with limited opportunity to do so. It is envisaged that the participant will be able to develop and consolidate knowledge and skills required to function as a nurse educator in their chosen field of nursing.
Requirements
The program will be available to registered nurses who have a previous nursing degree or who have accumulated a wealth of experience in the area of staff development education, but who do not have a degree. These nurses will be provided with additional support when embarking upon the course.
Applications should be received at least one month prior to commencement.
Notes
The program timetable will take into consideration the working requirements of the majority of individuals enrolling in the course.
