Graduate Certificate in Nursing
Description
The School of Nursing offers a Graduate Certificate in Nursing to registered nurses working towards an advanced qualification. This program of study allows students to exit with a Graduate Certificate of Nursing after the completion of four units of study. Those electing to progress by completing four additional study units will be eligible to graduate with a Graduate Diploma in Nursing.
The course is aimed at enabling the registered nurse to develop knowledge and consolidate skills to function at an advanced level of practice.
Course units can be selected (in consultation with the course coordinator) from the following study areas:
• Clinical Governance
• Medical Surgical Nursing
• Aged Care
• Clinical Nursing
• Nursing Education
• Oncology Nursing
• Orthopaedic Nursing
• Primary Health Nursing
Please note the course sequence, units and specialty areas may be subject to change.
Requirements
The program will be available to registered nurses who have a previous degree or who have accumulated a wealth of experience in the area, but who do not have a degree. These nurses will be provided with additional support when embarking upon the program.
Applications should be received at least one month prior to commencement.
Notes
Students will discuss their study program with the course coordinator before commencing. The assessment of each unit is variable and may consist of tutorial presentations, case study, written assignments, projects and journals.
