Description

Aim
To provide opportunities for study by coursework, thesis and placement at specialist level in clinical psychology.




Content/structure
This program comprises 72 units of study. The coursework component consists of 36 units including 4.5 units of elective study. The research component is 18 units, and the professional placement component is 18 units. The elective component will be from postgraduate courses offered by the School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy. The program has been structured to be completed over two years for full-time students and four to six years for part-time students.

Professional Recognition
This program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. On completion of the program graduates will have met the academic requirements for membership of the Australian Psychological Society and Associate Membership of the College of Clinical Psychologists within that Society. Graduates of the program are eligible for registration as psychologists with the South Australian Psychological Board.

Requirements

A four year qualification in psychology which is normally an honours degree, accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council, is a necessary condition of entry. Relevant previous professional experience and acquired skills will also be considered in the selection process through references and an interview.

Referee reports must be completed and returned to the school (not SATAC) by 2 November 2009, and can be downloaded from the School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy webpage.

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission
