Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a nurse with a state regulatory authority. There are employment opportunities in many diverse healthcare settings for Registered Nurses. Course Structure: Theoretical studies in Years 1 and 2 are held at the Launceston campus only. In Year 1 students undertake two weeks of clinical education in health care centres, including rural and community, throughout Tasmania. In second year, students undertake three weeks of clinical education each semester in Launceston, Hobart, North-West Tasmania or rural and community clinical settings throughout Tasmania. The third year is taught through the Cradle Coast, Launceston and Hobart campuses, with clinical educational opportunities in rural, community, regional and metropolitan centres throughout Tasmania. Costs associated with travel, accommodation and uniforms are met by students. Please note that students are allocated to clinical places subject to their availability and students may be required to travel and relocate.
Pre-Registration: University admission. In addition, suggested TCE subjects are English, Science and Humanities. Other details requirements available on request.
Students undertaking the three year program, may be required to undertake clinical practice in the southern, northern or north-western region of Tasmania depending on clinical placement availability. There are restricted numbers of clinical placements in al regions and students may be required to relocate to undertake clinical practice.
