The Pain Management Research Institute consists of a multidisciplinary group of health professionals and research workers who are collaborating to improve pain treatment, education and research in adults and children. The staff includes medical specialists in various disciplines (eg. pain medicine, psychiatry, rheumatology, palliative care, and orofacial medicine), nurses, clinical psychologists and other allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists along with basic and applied scientists. Clinical treatment, teaching and research activities extend from acute pain (eg. postoperative and trauma) to chronic non cancer pain (eg. low back pain, post amputation pain, herpes etc) and cancer pain management.
