In order to cover maternity services at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Greater Southern Area Health Service is having to contract out maternity positions.
Executive Director of Medical Services, Mr Joe McGirr said that "I think sometimes our processes for recruitment haven't been as good as they might have been. Often there are just individual circumstances that mean that you can be a year down the line recruiting somebody and then something will happen and you're back to square one and that's all to do with individual circumstances."
Aspen Medical will provide extra specialist obstetricians to fill the vacancies. Mr McGirr said that "By working Aspen Medical we will be able to ensure that the community has high quality specialist medical staff available." |
