Our close links with industry ensure that our vocational education and training (VET) programs are at the forefront of industry needs.

Teaching expertise

BNIT teachers come from a wide range of backgrounds, and all are industry professionals in their fields. They are well regarded by industry and regularly return to their specific sectors to maintain their knowledge and skills. This ensures you will always receive up-to-the-minute training.

Supportive environment

BNIT provides a friendly and supportive learning environment. From your first day on campus through to the achievement of your qualification, you’ll find teachers, support staff and counsellors ready to help.

LEVELS OF STUDY

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the formal recognition of a person’s current skills and knowledge, no matter how, when or where the learning occurred.

Even if you have never formally studied or trained in a particular area, you may have gained knowledge and skills through your education, training, work and life experience.

RPL is a recognition process evidenced in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework and could provide you with a full or part qualification, and avoid duplication of training. It could be used to identify what training you may need to complete a qualification, or provide a pathway to higher qualifications.

LetBNIT show you how to obtain your qualification faster!

Benefits of RPL:

• Current skills and experience, regardless of where and when the learning occurred.

• Students can base their application for RPL on any combination of formal or informal training, education, work experience or general life experience.

• RPL will save you time and help you reach your career goals more quickly.

Statements of Attainment

Statements of Attainment are awarded if you successfully complete components of Certificates, Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas, or successfully complete a nationally accredited short course.

Certificate Programs

Certificates I and II provide preparatory skills and application of knowledge at a basic level, primarily to provide access to work, further education or re-entry into the workplace. Certificates III and IV provide a broad range of skills to perform a variety of tasks and roles. They can help you with career advancement by preparing you for autonomous and supervisory roles within the workplace.

Advanced Diplomas and Diplomas

Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas provide high-level technical or management skills and offer credit to many universities in Queensland. Through partnerships with selected universities, we also offer a number of dual qualifications that can see you graduate with both a Diploma and Bachelor Degree. These qualifications can also assist in upgrading your work skills or help you enter or re-enter the workforce at a more qualified level.

Vocational Graduate Diplomas/Certificates

Similar to a higher education Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, Vocational Graduate Diplomas (VGDs) and Vocational Graduate Certificates (VGCs) provide high-level employment-related skills and knowledge with a focus on competency in a workplace environment.

UNIVERSITY PATHWAYS

BNIThas established links with many universities enabling graduating Diploma and Advanced Diploma students credit towards their Degree qualification. You can receive credit for previous accredited study that is the same as, or equivalent to, the competencies in the qualification you wish to enrol. This is called credit transfer and it provides a considerable saving in both time and money.

Improve your Tertiary Entrance Rank

By completing a Diploma program at BNIT, you will enhance your ranking and may become eligible for entry into a Degree program. Up to 12 months credit may be given towards the Degree program for the completed Diploma study.

Reduce your study time and your cost of study

If you complete a Diploma you will receive credit toward, and qualify for entry into, a corresponding Degree program. As most TAFE programs are government subsidised, choosing this option represents a significant saving.
