Position Summary
Provide midwifery care to women and babies.
Selection Criteria
Registered Midwife in New South Wales or eligibility to register.
Sound Midwifery Clinical Knowledge and skills.
Ability to work to professional standards within a changing environment.
Well developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work.
Evidence of a current Class C drivers licence.
Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
Recent clinical midwifery experience or completion of a midwifery refresher course or midwifery training within the past 5 years.
Principal Responsibilities
Provide midwifery care to women and babies, sometimes working with limited supervision.
Provide leadership and act as a role model and mentor within the clinical and Health Service setting.
Perform to a standard of Nursing Practice that ensures the provision of clinical care focuses on the delivery of a safe quality service.
Participate in the problem solving, decision making and planning of patient care.
Promote and maintain collegial relationships with medical, allied health personnel, peers and others involved in the provision of patient care.
Undertake ongoing personal and professional development directed towards skills enhancement aimed at remaining up to date in all areas of clinical practice.
Act as a clinical resource to peers and colleagues and facilitate educational opportunities as required.
Identify and refer appropriately, potential conflict situations and where possible influence a positive outcome directed towards maintaining harmony throughout the Health Service.
Where relevant, maintain affiliation with a professional midwifery and nursing body.
Refer to senior management all relevant matters and those outside the influence of this position.
Assume responsibilities of and represent senior management to the level of delegated duties, consistent with the knowledge, skill and expertise of the position as required.
Comply with Child Protection and Domestic Violence policies & procedures and attend mandatory training.
Undertake reasonable travel in accordance with the duties of this position.
