Clinical Nurse Consultant Refugee Health Services

Your Work Place

The Southern Tasmania Area Health Service provides health and wellbeing support services for refugees and special humanitarian program entrants. The Clinical Nurse Consultant Refugee Health Services will work in collaboration with the Southern Tasmania Refugee Health Services Committee, Director Statewide Refugee Health Services and Nurse Unit Manager Clinics to enhance the level of service delivery to this client group. Located at the Royal Hobart Hospital, the tertiary referral service for Tasmania, the Clinical Nurse Consultant Refugee Health Services will establish and maintain effective working relationships to promote integration of services provided by government, non-government, community and support-service based organizations.

Your Challenge

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to enhance service development and access for this client group in Southern Tasmania. Using a Primary Health model and under the broad direction of the Director Statewide Refugee Health Services and Nurse Unit Manager Clinics, the Clinical Nurse Consultant Refugee Health Services will work in conjunction with clinic nurses, doctors and external service providers to determine health and well being program priorities, and then develop and coordinate integrated, culturally sensitive services.

Your Qualities

You will be an experienced registered nurse, ideally with experience in a similar role or in oordinating program development that encompasses the needs of adults and children. You will have or will be working towards, tertiary qualifications in a relevant field. You will have excellent communication and coordination skills with a demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be expected to work with a significant degree of clinical practice autonomy.
