Health jobs go at South Australia's RDNS
Date of Posting:
Six nurses will lose their jobs and another 22 have converted from full-time to part-time work as part of a restructuring process at South Australia’s Royal District Nursing Service. RDNS-SA hired 70 extra people earlier this year to cope with increased demand after it and another organisation won a SA Health tender to provide 27,000 home support services a year for a seven-year term. But now low demand has forced RDNS-SA to make cost cuts. Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation SA branch CEO Elizabeth Dabars said it appeared the cut backs were a genuine consequence of less than expected demand. Ms Dabars said the union was working with the organisation to ensure employees received their full entitlements. "Our intention is to work closely with our members and RDNS to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved and people will be able to secure their entitlements," she said. "People who have previously been employed with the organisation there have a very solid and sound skill set. "There’s a nursing and midwifery shortage in South Australia and it is anticipated the opportunities that will be available for these nurses and midwives are reasonably good." The redundant workers are expected to receive a four-week severance payment along with job-seeking support. RDNS has stated there are no further plans for job losses. The organisation employs more than 700 people. Share your thoughts![]() Related and Recent Articles
