New aged care franchise for Australia and New Zealand

The fastest growing home care company in the world is opening its doors in Adelaide amid plans to open between 75 and 100 franchises across Australia and New Zealand.

Senior Helpers, which employs carers for in-home aged care assistance, was founded in the United States in 2001 and is now a 300-franchise business with plans for an international expansion targeting 16 countries.

Consultancy business Group Seven, headed by former Cartridge World chiefs Paul Wheeler and Mike Fuller, have launched the Australasian arm of the venture.

Senior Helpers founder and CEO Peter Ross said each franchise would employ at least one registered nurse with most of the jobs created for carers.

Mr Fuller confirmed each location would employ at least 50 full-time and part-time workers.

"We provide specialised training for Alzheimer’s and Dementia care through our Senior Helpers university," he said.

"Each of our carers are highly trained and we develop a customised care plan for each client."

The group expects demand for aged care services to skyrocket with figures showing the number of Australians aged over 65 will double to six million by 2031.

Mr Wheeler said more people wanted to remain in their homes.

"They want to be as independent as they can," he said.

"It's not always possible for families to provide the full extent of that support and Senior Helpers is afabulous business designed to help do just that by offering trained essential companion and personal services."
