To work as a nurse in the United States of America (USA), applicants must pass the NCLEX exam administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), although requirements vary from state to state. Visas and work permits There are two main types of visas that health professionals can apply for to work in the USA: * a permanent (immigrant) visa, also known more commonly as a green card * a temporary (non-immigrant) visa: H-1B, H-1C, TN (Trade NAFTA) and new E3 (Speciality work visa available for Australian citizens only).
